Use the Listening Planner: Gaps, Exact Timings, and Saved Plans
Work through a 15-minute session with checked arithmetic, understand which settings are saved, and keep a portable running order without copying audio.

Enter the length of the actual version
Open the listening planner and set your available time in whole minutes. Enter the recording name, artist, and displayed length in m:ss format. The seconds must be between 00 and 59: 4:70 is invalid, while 5:10 is valid. A zero-length track is also rejected.
The planner calculates a running order; it does not retrieve recordings, start playback, or change your app queue. Use the length of the exact version you intend to hear. A remix, live performance, or radio edit can make the same title take a different amount of time.
Try a 15-minute session with introductions
Set the session length to 15 minutes and the gap to 20 seconds. Add the three illustrative entries below. Their music lasts 11:15. Two gaps add 0:40, so the plan ends at 11:55 and leaves 3:05. There is no gap before the first track or after the last one.
- Music: 200 + 225 + 250 = 675 seconds, or 11:15.
- Gaps: (3 − 1) × 20 = 40 seconds.
- Total: 675 + 40 = 715 seconds, or 11:55.
- Remaining: 900 − 715 = 185 seconds, or 3:05.
| Entry | Length | Starts | Ends |
|---|---|---|---|
| Opening selection | 3:20 | 0:00 | 3:20 |
| Middle selection | 3:45 | 3:40 | 7:25 |
| Closing selection | 4:10 | 7:45 | 11:55 |
Decide what to do with remaining time
To fill this example exactly, a fourth recording would need to last 2:45: adding it creates another 20-second gap, so 2:45 + 0:20 uses the remaining 3:05. A fourth recording of 3:05 would instead put the plan 20 seconds over time. The displayed remaining time is space for both the new recording and its preceding gap.
You do not have to fill the target exactly. Leave room for conversation or choose a shorter selection. The planner does not account for buffering, crossfades, or unplanned pauses, so an exact calculated finish is not a promise of an exact playback finish.
Reorder to change the sequence, not its length
Move the 4:10 closer to the first position. The first entry now ends at 4:10 and the next begins at 4:30, but the three-track total remains 11:55. Every duration and the number of gaps are unchanged. Reordering helps you shape a session; shortening it requires a different length, fewer tracks, or smaller gaps.
The planner allows up to 100 entries, a target of 1 to 1,440 minutes, and a gap of 0 to 600 seconds. If a setting is outside that range or is not a whole number, the timeline pauses until you correct it. An empty plan has no gaps and no music.
Save the list and export the complete plan
Save track list on this device stores the current track names, durations, and order in this browser. It replaces the previous saved list. Target time and gaps are not stored: when you open a fresh planner page, those settings start at 30 minutes and zero seconds. Set them again after restoring the track list.
Export plan creates a text file with the current target, gap, total, and each track's start and end. Use it when you want a complete record or need to share the sequence. It contains no audio or playable playlist, and there is currently no import button. You can manually enter the lengths again from the file.
| Need | Use | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Continue editing on this browser | Save track list on this device | Target and gap must be set again on a fresh page |
| Keep timings and settings together | Export plan (.txt) | The file is a record, not a playable queue |
| Move to another device | Keep the exported file and manually re-enter the tracks | Local browser storage does not travel with an account |
| Clear browser data | Export first and confirm the file is saved | Clearing site data can remove the local list |
Check the plan before sharing
Confirm the names distinguish the intended versions, compare every length with its source, and read the total after your last edit. Save again if you changed the order or removed an entry: editing does not automatically update the saved browser list.
Share recording details and links on authorized services rather than unpermitted audio copies. For a group session, use the gaps as planned introduction time and appoint someone to keep the discussion within it. If the schedule changes, update the planner and export a new copy so everyone has the same running order.
